Originally designed in 1954 by Dan Johnson, the Sol y Luna collection is crafted from cast aluminum components that are filed and ground to a smooth surface. Metal artisans weld the components together and then grind, buff, and polish every join to “a smooth, jewellike finish.” To prepare Sol y Luna for powder coating, every frame is pretreated with a five-step application that ensures superior paint adhesion and exceptional cleanliness. Finally, an Ultra Fuse powder coat finish is applied by hand with an electrostatic technique that creates a complete and uniform coating on all areas of the frame.
